This article is to list out the Android apps that I use. It's just as nutshelled as the ROM list, since it uses the same format.
All apps I've mentioned here will run without internet, unless mentioned otherwise.
Positives:
Hides the folder & subfolder from plain view in the app. Handy for hiding that secret pic you don't want to be caught having.
It extends to the app icon. Though, for that one, please restart your launcher.
Negatives:
While it's ok for video, lack of subtitle will cause problems when watching JP-dubbed anime.

Coming from YouTube / any of its clients, this could be sorely missed.

Short for Artem Izmaylov Music player, or as I've enjoyed calling it, Artyom Is Music Player, this is the best music player on Android IMO.
While I could combine Video & Music into one by using VLC, it lacks the manual playlist creation that I'm using in AIMP.
Positives:
Done on 1st run, & manually.
The interface can be modified in its own settings. The AIMP site has community-built add-ons, in case the prebuilt modifications weren't enough.
Even the headset button behavior can be modded.
Negatives:
Fortunately, most other music apps for Android share this issues. I'm just putting this here for completion though.
Stuff I ignore:
This requires internet access, & is ignored since I usually put my music files on my microSD (or in-device if there's no microSD)

You may want to use a stylus on this one.

Actually, the prebuilt calculator on every ROM is decent enough.

No links can be provided, as they're prebuilt in every ROMs.
I use this only when there's no prebuilt calculator.

SD Maid is a category upon itself due to the things it do.
On first run, will search & ask for root permission before requesting storage & usage access.
Positives:
Given root access, it can even disable system apps that can't be disabled via Settings.
Something a bit out of place when it comes to a file manager, but, in this context, SD Maid is worth more than just being a file manager.
Without root access, it is a root file viewer.
Negatives:
However, in my personal case, none of those paywalled features matter, since some of these functionalities are generally covered by other apps. For example, Activity Manager is covered by MyAndroidTools.

Replacement UI for the missing per-app data management, which also works on system apps.
Root access required.
Positives:
Negatives:
It's obvious, since this uses iptables. For those who don't have / want root access, use Netguard. It's a VPN-based firewall.

Or, in a more familiar term, ad blocker.
Root access required. Internet access is needed to update hosts file.
Positives:
Negatives:
For no-root alternatives, Blokada works, though it's a VPN-based adblocker.

For Android 10 ROMs, any changes that occur in these apps will also be reflected in the AOSP permission manager. Generally, these apps will require root access.
Root / Shizuku required, but it can also run with ADB. Shizuku is required from 4.0.0 onwards.
Positives:
For each regular permission, it's these 3: Allow; Allow in foreground, & Deny.
In my opinion, it's a nice touch.
Negatives:
On the positive side though, there's an issue tracker at GitHub.
However, in my personal case, none of those paywalled features matter.
Starting with 4.0.0; this app won't call for the default root access.

Root access required, & will be requested on first run.
Positives:
Negatives:
Permission management limited to allow / deny. If you're also using Rikka AppOps & set a permission to "Allow in foreground" for anything, the equivalent in AppOpsX will be "deny".
This app is probably discontinued.

Can run without root (uses ADB instead). Allows apps to directly access system APIs.
Since it works with root, it's in the root manager section.
Positives:
Negatives:
Currently only used by Rikka's apps & MyAndroidTools (if set up).

F-Droid is a catalog of open-source Android apps.
Positives:
Negatives:
This is counted as a negative as some apps, such as Simple Apps & Newpipe as an example, have their own GitHub releases section, which allows them to get faster updates than they would with F-Droid.
As for the reasoning behind this, here's a tidbit from NewPipe:
Update via F-Droid. This is the slowest method of getting updates, as F-Droid must recognize changes, build the APK itself, sign it, then push the update to users.

Aurora Store isn't exactly an app store, it's more of a Play Store proxy, similar to what Invidious is to YouTube.
