No performance optimizers for me pls Last updated : 7/10/2026 + Changelog : - 7/10/2026 - Initial commit - wait... I remembered posting something similar. Ah yes - pda-apps.html#kerhax + why not? - For starters, I almost liked the idea of being able to crank the high fuck out of my machine all the damn time (at least while gaming). However, keeping the throttle on max at all times is one of the ways devices burn & die (other than hitting things at force, submerge into seawater, etc.). - Performance optimizers tend to draw drama thanks to the crowd it usually attracts (and yes I could & would be a part of this had I used them in the past). - FDE.AI starred in one of these dramas in 2020 after a certain Android kernel developer called tweakers out (in pre-X Twitter) in January 2020. As of 6/10/2026 (last I checked), FDE.AI persists on the internet as a proprietary module. AFAIK this is the only notable performance optimizer drama I was aware of. - Most performance optimizers tend to be device-agnostic, applying modifications that sometimes don't mesh well with the device. + Alternatives (at least while gaming and NOT buying another device, because one can always choose to buy another device and/or NOT game) - Use custom ROM and/or kernel and hope it is to your liking. That said, most ROMs & kernels tend to feature marginal performance differences. - Kernel manager. If you gotta optimize, at least do it bit by bit. - Get device to cool down better. - Reworking your device's thermal assembly (like https://xdaforums.com/t/thermal-pad-copper-mod-for-poco-x3-pro.4479421/ for example) helps if you can tear the device down. But this still doesn't fully resolve the board heating itself up (or one of its components overheating & taking the entire board down with it). - Apply cooler on device while gaming and/or place device in front of fan. - Try NOT gaming in hot environments. - We'd call for re-engineering the device but then it goes far above what most non-DIY folks can normally imagine (and that's before going into the risks). Though while we're at it we might as well commission/order an Xperia 1 (or 5) II (running LineageOS 19.1 with latest available security patch) with inbuilt cooler fan, extra USB-C port, and user-replaceable battery. - Reduce in-game performance load. You don't always need things to look at its sharpest, you just need them to be legible enough to appreciate. - Motion blur? Off. - Shadows? Lowered as much as possible, unless the game actively requires you to utilize shadows. - Rendering resolution - as explained at the root point above. - Reduce framerates. ...but then the game is not as smooth (at least it runs constantly at the prescribed framerate?) so you're going to have to choose between your device longevity and the game being smooth. We recommend finding a good balance. - And other examples applied at personal level because my preferences and yours (and device/screen combo, etc.) differ. - Reduce background tasks, or eliminate them.
